- How to burn your candle
Light your candle in a well ventilated room, away from drafts, or fans. These can cause sooting (black marks on the vessel) or rapid, uneven burning.
Always burn your candle on an even surface and away from children and animals.
Never leave a lit candle unattended.
Make sure you stop burning your candle when 10mm of wax remains at the bottom, keeping an eye on the burning candle when the wax is low.
- How to avoid tunnelling
Tunnelling is when only the centre of the wax right around the wick melts and burns down. If this happens over time, it can cause a ring of hard wax to appear around the outside of the candle.
You can avoid tunneling the first time you light your candle by allowing the wax to melt and pool right to the edges of the candle.
- Trim your wick
Keeping your candle’s wick trimmed helps to control the amount of melted wax that the candle has access to.
Long or crooked wicks create high flames, smoking or sooting.
By trimming the wick to 5mm once the wax has set, you can avoid the appearance of any black soot and enjoy a longer burn time of your candle.
We advise this procedure after every burn.
